Thinking about traveling to Bali but not sure when is the best time to travel to Bali? I totally get it. Before my first trip, I had the same question, since Bali has a tropical climate with very different dry and rainy seasons.
I first visited Bali in August, with sunny days and lots of lively atmosphere, and then again in January, when rain was frequent and the vibe much calmer. Two completely different experiences, each with its own charm.
In this guide, I’ll share everything about the best time to travel to Bali, Indonesia, based on real experiences: weather, prices, crowds, plus a month-by-month breakdown with practical tips so you can plan your trip confidently.

🌤️ Best time to travel to Bali: Dry season
The best time of year to travel to Bali is between April and October, during the dry season. Expect sunny days, lower humidity, and calmer seas—perfect for snorkeling, surfing, or boat trips.
That said, keep in mind that even in the dry season, it can still rain. Friends of mine visited in July and had rain almost every day, while when I went in August, it only rained a couple of short times. Bali weather is never 100% predictable, but generally this season gives you the best odds.
👉 If you want a lively vibe, go in July or August (peak season, higher prices, fewer chances of rain).
👉 If you prefer great weather but smaller crowds, choose May, June, or September.
💰 Cheapest time to travel to Bali
The rainy season (November–March) is low season in Bali. Hotel and flight prices drop significantly, and the island feels much less crowded.
But yes, you’ll face heavy rains, usually in the afternoon or evening.
👉 Personal tip: I went to Bali in January, and while it rained most afternoons, I used the sunny mornings for tours and saved the rainy hours for massages, yoga, or cozy cafés.
